The Power of Six
Your running for your life, in the woods. Running from tall creatures (about 7 feet tall) called Mogadorians. There soul purpose is to hunt down you and eight other’s. They have to kill you in order, your number is four, and three are dead. The Mogadorians are out to kill you. You are running from about a thousand Mogadorians and that isn’t even a fraction of how many there are. They have been out to kill you for a long time, and they are getting desperate. You knew you shouldn’t have come here. The Power of Six, by Pittiacus Lore, is an action packed adventure, that keeps the reader on the edge of their seats.
Most sequels are not nearly as good as the prequel. For example, the book Hatchet, was a great book, but it’s sequel was not as good as the first book. It was not as good as the first book because he already knew lots of survival skills. Also It doesn’t have a strong of a message as Hatchet. The book I Am Number Four though, is a great book, and The Power of Six, (it’s sequel) is equally as good. I think that because the sequel is similar to the first book but it has more action and characters.
We all know those books that you are absorbed in, it makes you feel like you are practically in it. Sometimes those books may even make you feel like your one of the characters. The Power of Six is one of those books were it makes you feel like you are the main characters, deciding what you want to do when really you are just doing what the book says.
Not to mention even if you cant seem to quite be in the book, it makes you at least want to be in the book. So you’ll at least want to be in the book, even if you cant. Many people think that just wanting something isn’t enough, but don’t you think that desire is what keeps you moving?
What It's Like As a BB Gun
Author’s Note: I wrote about one of my BB guns because that was the best gift I got. The short story I wrote has lots of sentence fragments, to create a scenario. It also creates pace which like.
It’s sad and lonely, inside of a box. I hate it. Are you claustrophobic? I am. The only thing I ever look forward to anymore is to be bought. Then again, what’s after that? be opened only to be used once and left alone in the attic? Or to be broken and be ditched? I sincerely hope not. that would be a very depressing life. I want to be used all the time, constantly feeling the cool breeze on a hot summer day, or the freezing chill on a cold winter day.
A month later...
Maybe not everyone gets what they want. I’ve waited weeks, and still nobody bought me. So I guess I’m doomed here for eternity. Oh well, I have no hope. Maybe If I’m lucky, after eternity, someone will buy me, as an ancient relic. Wait, maybe I’m not doomed! YES someones taking me!
Ugh, I’m still stuck in this box, except now I have no view. Something is blocking my light, and now I cant see to. Whats that tearing sound? It’s terrible! Wait I can see through a slit! Now my window is open! I’M FREE!

Tom Burns
I wrote about the book Papa Spy because I thought the book was a great biography.
Simply imagine, your father was sent to war, and your living with your three sisters and four brothers, living in a small house with the only joy you have left is hoping your father is still alive, marking spots where the enemy have taken over and the spots where we took some and back. Then when the war is finally over you await by the telegram to see if your father even suvived. After a few days you find out that your father isn't even coming back (because he's dead). The book that I am reading is called Papa Spy by Jimmy Burns. Papa Spy is a great book because it is filled with action and adventure. There are plenty of things that come to mind when I think about the main character, Tom Burns. One thing is that he is a lucky guy, another is he's courageous, and last is I think he's shady.
Tom Burns is lucky throughout his entire life. Tom was lucky even when he was young. For example when he was only a baby he survived a hurricane. Having been almost completely covered in rubble, he only had a scratch on his lip, a scar to always remember that one tragic event. He was lucky all the way through his childhood to adulthood. One reason he is lucky is because out of all the people that died in WWII he was not one of the people who died. Some of his friends who were in the war died, but not him.
Tom Burns might be lucky, but his most important trait is his courage. Near the end of the book he earns a “Call-me-God” metal which is an award given to the most courageous and clever soldier in the war. He earned this metal because of his immense bravery. Tom Burns is also brave because throughout the whole book he never backed down or showed any fear. If he were to have shown any fear he would have let the goverment down and would've died.
Burns, although courageous, is also shady. His origin is one thing that can knock people off, because no-one can believe that he was actually born in Chile, because he had a Latin swagger, but he looked like he could have been Celtic. He had nothing Chilian about him so thats why nobody can believe he is from Chile. He also has to be shady, being a spy, it’s his job. If he were not shady, he would not be doing his job correctly, and if he isn't doing his job correctly he will die.
Papa Spy maybe a book filled with adventure and action, but Tom is otherwise a simple guy, forced to do an amazing job. I really enjoyed Papa Spy and if you are even thinking of reading it, read it!
Patriot's Pen Essay
Author’s Note: I wrote that I am not proud of my country. This to show you why I am not proud of America.
Just imagine that your father was going to Afghanistan, you had little money, and all the money you put in the bank had just been canceled because your bank went bankrupt. The economy had originally been excellent until banks started to go bankrupt. The government is giving the banks money to pay off their loans so other things like the military are not getting the money they need. I am not proud of my country because the government is wasting their money.
One way they the economy dropped was that banks started to go bankrupt so people took all their money out then that caused more banks to go bankrupt. When lots of banks go bankrupt then the government has to give their money to the banks and with the loss of that money they need to raise the taxes. When they raise the taxes then people loss their money and people become poor.
Another way the economy dropped is by house buying. Often people buy a house for 200,000 and then sell it for 300,000. Then the other people buy it and sell it for 400,000. Also people buy houses that they can’t afford or they lose their job and can't pay off their mortgage. Same thing applies with a car.
Last but not least, the main reason is that in the past when the economy was great the banks used to accept every loan. Then people weren't able to pay off the loan and the bank lost money. Now people are becoming homeless since their rent runs out and the bank won’t give you a loan.
Those are the reasons I am not proud of my country. You may disagree with me and say stuff that proves that you are proud but you can't argue with the facts that I listed. I want you to remember one last thing; most of this stuff isn’t the government’s fault, it is the bank’s fault and our fault.
Homelessness
Author's Note: I wrote about homelessness. The reason I wrote about homelessness is because I think it is not only a big problem here but also in other countries.
Walking along the lean cement, in the icy star-filled sky, a chill passes. Everywhere around you, you receive heartless looks from everybody. The only close heating source is in a store, but it closed at dawn. Having to take the bus with the few scraps of change you managed to get a hold of, you savor the few minutes of heating. They kick you off downtown, where there are only more cold and careless people. Homelessness may not be a huge problem now, but if we don’t fix it soon, it is going to be an enormous dilemma.
Various causes of homelessness are from economic issues like unaffordable housing supply, the decrease in services, supports and social assistance, and involvement in children’s welfare. While some are from mental and/or other weakening illnesses, drug usage by oneself or family members, and a history of physical and/or emotional abuse. But I think that these are the worst ones: discrimination and racism, personal histories of catastrophic events, loss of employment, and family break up.
Homelessness doesn’t last forever. For example, there are loads of famous people who have been homeless, like Charlie Chaplin, Benjamin Franklin, Joe Gilliam Junior, Dick Lane, or even Phil McGraw. Whether they were abandoned in a dumpster, or lived in a box, they persevered and eventually became famous. One famous person in particular, Mardy Gilyard, was kicked out of high school as a freshman because of low academic scores. He had his scholarship canceled and owed the school $10,000, but he didn’t give up. Instead he worked four jobs and had to live in his car, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. He is now a wide receiver for the St. Louise Rams and is a great role model for many.
Most homeless people don’t become famous though. Even though they don’t become famous or rich, it’s mainly because of their education. Depending on the amount of educational knowledge they have will reflect upon their chance to get a job or money. Without money they can’t rent or buy a place to stay, and then they will stay homeless.
That is why we need to make a change. Those without homes need to get back onto their feet and they need help. So even the smallest donation that can help many. Think about how good the economy will be with no poor or homeless people. With the economy up our country would almost seem perfect. Think of all the possibilities. Hover cars, gas-free vehicles, water powered engines, the possibilities are endless. We need to make a change.
